BDZ EAD and Siemens agree about the delivery of EMUs
Today, BDZ EAD and Siemens EOOD (Bulgaria) signed a contract for the establishment of a consortium for the maintenance, overhaul and final assembly of diesel train-sets, delivered by Siemens to BDZ EAD, in compliance with the contract between the two parties for the procurement of new rolling stock. The validity term of the contract for the establishment of a consortium is by the end-2005, when on the basis of this contract the two parties will register a joint venture.
The two parties also signed a protocol for the exercising of the option for the delivery of up to 25 EMUs. This option was envisaged in the provision of the contract for the procurement of 25 DMUs, concluded between BDZ EAD and Siemens on 7th January 2005.
The consortium will carry out the maintenance, overhaul and final assembly of the new trains in the wholly-renovated workshop in Varna Locomotive Depot. The renovation of the workshop is fully compliant with the standards for ergonomics and environmental protection.
The maintenance, overhaul and final assembly of the Desiro trains will be performed in the workshop.
The employees of BDZ EAD, who are included in the workshop service personnel, have undergone training in Siemens facilities in Germany. Representatives of Siemens will carry out the technical management and control over the service activity. The equipment in the renovated workshop is provided by Siemens.
